December 8

Tomorrow is Carlos' 15th birthday and it's also the day when I discovered Libera!
Happy birthday Carlos
And I think I want to share with you how I discovered them :)

It was the 8th of December 2012 when my cousin and I watched the tv show called "Wansapanataym". The show was about of course, Christmas. The casts on the show kept on singing that wonderful song which I do not know the title. Then I asked my cousin. She said it was "O Holy Night". Perfect! Good thing we had internet and I had a chance to search the song on YouTube. When I searched this title, the first result was the Glee's version. I wasn't contented about it so I kept on searching. While I was watching another version, a Caucasian boy wearing a white robe was featured on the Sidebar videos. The boy looked familiar to me. And something came into my mind that "Haven't I seen their group before?" My curiosity brought me to watch the video.
Geez I hope this is a good one. The music began playing and this soloist started to sing. My first thought was, "Great voice you got there young man!" and then... another boy started to sing on the line "Long lay the world in sin..." I decided to finish the video. What a wonderful sound I heard! WHO ARE THESE ANGELS? The magical sound forced me to know them more. Then I searched again their songs. The second song I heard from them was "Sanctus". This ecstatic tune amazed me! I searched again on google "Libera Members". The very first photo I have seen from them was... They were wearing black hoodies and I never knew there were older members. Then I searched the name of the soloist of "O Holy Night". Wow! His name was RALPH? RALPH SKAN? and the other soloist... STEFAN!

Well that wasn't enough! I think this is the start of being a fan. The third video I watched was "Stay With Me". Another amazing voice I came to hear! Oh my God I'm actually crying right now! Crying of happiness! The fourth video I watched was "Far Away". But... was it fourth? No! Not at all! My dad and I were surprised to hear the soloist sing! "Wherever I go, far away and anywhere". I told my dad, "Papa! So they were the ones who sung the song. The background music of "Angelica Zambrano Testimony" Now I know! "Far Away" was the very, very first song I heard from them! And I heard it in the year of 2011. As months passed, I searched and searched all about them! I also found myself singing their songs. Nothing came in to my mind but Libera! Libera! Libera! Libera! This choir inspired me to sing. All my classmates knew about them because every time I go to school I talk about them! I let my classmates hear their songs and they loved it! Haha! I heard one of my classmate humming one of their songs.

When I was 13, I told my teacher that I like to sing and she decided to put me to an audition... Choir audition. I saw the choir director and he let me sing. My classmates were the audience. At first, I sung Lenka's "The Show". The director wasn't satisfied. Oh no my hands were getting cold! What if I don't pass this audition?! And then my classmate started requesting a song. "Kate, I think you should sing what your idols sing" Then I said, "What Idol?" Then he said, "You know... The boys... The angels... The angelic choir group..." Haha! Libera! Nothing came in to his mouth but angels! I was very fortunate that the director allowed me to sing again. I started singing "Sanctus".
"Benedictus benedictus..." And I started singing the highest part... the ending part. Steven Geragthy's part. Alas! I passed the audition! Our director grinned and said, "Are you a choir member? how can you sing the high notes? how did you know the song?"
My teacher asked me the same question but I just answered, "I have never been a choir member". But if I pass this audition... Then I'd be a member. Guess what... even my teacher knew about Libera! I never thought that this inspiration would bring me to this. I'm officially a choir member and I'm one of the sopranos. Thank God I knew about them!
